Basic Information before renting rolls royce dawn
The Dawn is the best-looking car by Rolls-Royce since the iconic British firm came under German ownership a dozen years ago. That’s our opinion, yes, but if reactions of the guests who were treated to a glimpse of a pre production example of this elegant 2016 convertible at the Pebble Beach Concurs in August are any indication, it’s a simple, objective fact as well.
It has been more than eight decades since the rugged and reliable Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost was proclaimed by the automaker to be “The Best Car in the World.” Since those glorious days, there followed many splendid Rolls-Royce’s but also some truly dismal ones, notably in the Great Depression era, and when BMW and Volkswagen were ferociously vying to acquire the R-R and Bentley brands in 1998, almost any Japanese economy car was better engineered and certainly more reliable than the revered symbols of British imperial superiority. The Rolls-Royce Dawn convertible is the latest expression of this renewed corporate spirit. It shares its 122.5-inch wheelbase as well as its chassis architecture with the Wraith coupe and, like all modern Rolls-Royces; it features a twin-turbo V-12 Engine.
If the Wraith is the hot rod of the Rolls-Royce lineup, the Dawn convertible is the marquee’s boulevard cruiser, and it makes you see yourself motoring elegantly in Nice, France, along the Promenade des Anglais. Its name recalls the Rolls-Royce Silver Dawn drop head of 1952, a grand car that symbolized Britain’s emergence from the shadow of World War II.
THE LOGO OF ROLLS ROYCE and THE SPIRIT OF ECSTACY
Aside from the logo depicting two R and Rolls-Royce lettering, the cars of this manufacturer is also decorated with the famous Spirit of Ecstasy. This sign is the bonnet decoration on Rolls-Royce vehicles.
It represents the figure of a woman inclining forwards with the arms outstretched back from and above her. Rolling cloth runs from the woman’s arms to her behind, resembling wings. This symbol means the spirit of this car, namely, speed with absence of vibration, silence, and the mysterious harness of great force and a beautiful alive organism of superb plenty.
This woman bears with her, special piece of headland from her hands to her back which is symbolic of wings. The famous Spirit of Ecstasy that is well-known is referred to debonair names as Silver Lady, the Flying Lady or Emily. This glory of carmaker heritage holds a mysterious passion between the notable Lord of Beaulieu, John Walter and his secret inamorata. The model for this emblem. Her name is Eleanor Velasco Thornton. His wealthy status which became a hindrance to their great love resulted in their relationship, remaining hidden for some time. The lord, succumbing to family tensions, married Lady by name Cecil Victoria Constance, however his secret love continued. Eleanor tragically died in December in 1915 in a crash of the ship while accompanying her lord to India. Four years later, this Lord immortalized their tragically love by unveiling Spirit of Ecstasy as a sign of their great passion and love.
